Task 3
We have seen the positive and educational applications of various pieces of technology.
Many of these, such as mobile phones, have become central to a lot of young people's lives but unfortunately this has also left them open to abuse. Turn to digizen.org for further information.

* How is cyberbullying different from traditional bullying?
Actually, I don´t find difference between one or the other in the sense that they both share the same goal: bother a partner.
But where I do see a difference is in that cyberbullying has a broader effect, that is to say, everybody knows who is being bullied, as we saw the other day in the video.
* What effects can this type of bullying have on the person who is the target of it?
As any kind of bullying it will have awful effects. For example, as we saw in the video the other day, the target of bullying was not on the mood to participate in class(because he was too focus on the bullying that he could not help thinking in something else), he did not tell anyone what was going on at school or about the akward text messages he received, etc. All in all, cyberbullying can cause phycological effects, in
the sense that the target will have low self-esteem, will not feel comfortable to talk to others about what he is feeling and the worst of it he would feel lonely and hopeless.
* How do cyberbullies use technology against their target?
They send text messages with nasty words, they take pictures of the target and then photoshop that pictute to make fun of the target, and of course everyone gets to see that "funny" picture and they also insult the target when chatting by msn.
- How is cyberbullying different from traditional bullying?
Cyberbullying is a “more effective way” of bullying the target. Because it can take place at any time; the information given about the target can reach more people in less time; and the person cyberbullying can remain anonymous, that is why, it’s important to know how to respond seeing that many cyberbullying incidents can themselves act as evidence.
- What effects can this type of bullying have on the person who is the target of it?
First, cyberbullying as a whole can create an awful atmosphere among the school community. Second, for the target it can be such a humiliating situation that if it is not taken seriously whether by the school authorities or parents it could cause uncertain endings. Third, if the target is a teacher, she/he can have serious consequences in their jobs and in the way they relate to students from that on.
- How do cyberbullies use technology against their target?
Passing on a humiliating image, sending nasty calls or text messages, including threats, intimidation, harassment. Using someone else’s account to forward rude or mean messages via their contacts list. By spreading secrets or blackmailing. Forwarding unsuitable content including images and video clips, or sending computer viruses. Accessing someone else’s account, e.g. to forward personal emails or delete emails. Persuading or threatening young people to act in inappropriate ways. Using inappropriate recordings to manipulate young people. Posting embarrassing, humiliating film of someone. Name-calling, making abusive / derogatory remarks. Players may pick on weaker or less experienced users, repeatedly killing their characters. Forwarding unwanted messages to other devices in the immediate vicinity.
Cyberbullying is different from traditional bullying in a sense that it can take place at any time and can intrude into spaces that have previously been regarded as personal, i.e., e-mail boxes, mobiles phones, gaming sites, chat rooms, etcetera. It also remains anonymous.
Cyberbullying have many effects on the person being bullied. This person can feel scared, threatened, ashamed, depressed. He or she can be ’close up inside’ and find difficult to tell others, teachers or parents, about what is going on.
In this situation of cyberbullying, technology is used negatively. The cyberbully send nasty calls, text messages or pictures through his or her mobile phone. Instant messengers, e-mail boxes, chat rooms are used with the same purpose.
